Vol. 255 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fertiliser Imports.

6.

asked the Taoiseach the amount of nitrogenous fertiliser imported from Romania, Poland and Czechoslovakia between 1st March and 31st May, 1971.

In the three month period March-May, 1971, imports of ammonium nitrate from Poland amounted to 1,976 tons valued at £49,632. There were no other imports of nitrogenous fertilisers from Romania, Poland or Czechoslovakia in that period.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say whether one or two countries are involved?

There were three countries.

Is one or more Irish companies involved?

As I pointed out to the Deputy in relation to this and the last supplementary, arising on the other question, this information was not sought specifically on this question. If the Deputy wants the information I shall be very glad to supply it to him.

I asked a supplementary arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply to this question.

I have just admitted that I do not have that information readily available.

The Parliamentary Secretary should have had the information in regard to the previous question because the Minister for Agriculture answered it two days ago.
