Vol. 255 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Semi-State Body Reports.

22.

asked he Minister for Finance if any of the semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department is obliged by statute to furnish an annual report; if so, if any such body has failed to furnish a report within the time limit laid down for it by statute; the reasons for the delay; and what action he proposes to take to ensure the early production of such reports.

A number of the State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department are required by statute——

On a point of order, I did not hear the first sentence.

If the Deputy will stop interrupting he will hear the rest of it which I think is what he wants to know.

I want to hear the first sentence as well. I want to hear the whole reply.

Right, well now if we could have a little bit of co-operation in the House we might be able to hear the questions and get them finished as Deputy O'Donovan wants.

(Interruptions.)

Deputies over there are quite willing to pursue their own interests and then complain when other Deputies do the same.

Is it in order for the Minister to address a Deputy?

In what way did I address a Deputy?

You said "you".

If the Deputy pays more attention he will find that that is not so. It is Deputy Harte who does that kind of thing. The reply is as follows:

A number of the State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department are required by statute to submit annual reports to me for presentation to the Houses of the Oireachtas. These reports are presented to the Oireachtas within the time limits required by legislation.
