Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free Travel Facilities.

22.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if widows of British old age pensioners who are resident in Ireland are eligible for free travel facilities; and, if not, if arrangements will be made to have such facilities granted to them.

23.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if widows of ex-British army pensioners who are resident in Ireland are eligible for free travel facilities; and, if not, if arrangements will be made to have such facilities granted to them.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 22 and 23 together. Widows of British old age pensioners and widows of ex-British army pensioners aged 70 or over who are resident here qualify for free travel facilities if they are in receipt of British retirement pension or of an old age pension or a widows (contributory) pension from my Department. Further extension of the scheme is not contemplated.
