Vol. 255 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Longford Land Distribution.

37.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in view of the large acreage of lands in County Longford in the hands of the Land Commission and in view of the serious congestion in this county, he will consider setting up a special team of Land Commission inspectors in order that the distribution of these lands will be expedited.

The allotment programme of the Land Commission for County Longford for the year ending on 31st March, 1972, envisages the division of some 900 acres comprising ten estates. This will dispose of the major portion of the lands currently on hands in the county. In the circumstances it is not considered that there is any need to set up a special inspectorate team in the county as requested by the Deputy.

Is the Minister aware that the main complaint is usually the delay between acquisition and distribution? Will the Minister be able to speed up this side of it in the future?

It is a big question.

Is the Minister going to answer it?
