Vol. 255 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Edenderry (Offaly) Housing.

100.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the urgent need for the provision of houses in Edenderry town, County Offaly; if any steps are being taken to deal with the matter; and if the situation can best be met by a suitable low-cost housing scheme.

I am aware of the need for houses in Edenderry. Last December I approved the appointment of a consultant architect to prepare plans for a housing scheme at Edenderry. I understand that a submission will be made to my Department shortly by the county council, who are considering the possibility of using one of the house types proposed to my Department under the low-cost project for the scheme.
