In my opinion, any criticism received by An Chomhairle Ealaíon during the 20 years since its establishment has been of a relatively minor nature and extent. Having regard to the fact that State grants payable to the council are, subject to the relevant provisions of the Arts Act, 1951, expended by them at their own discre-tion, I do not consider that any further comment by me is called for.
