Vol. 256 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Airport Overflying.

17.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power to ensure that any discussions regarding the overflying of Shannon Airport are held at Shannon.

18.

Mr. O'Donnell

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether any venue or date has yet been agreed for the negotiations concerning the Ireland-US Air Agreement; and whether he will agree to holding these negotiations at Shannon Airport.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 17 and 18 together.

I expect that the date and venue for the talks on the US application for landing rights at Dublin will be settled very shortly. The venue will have to be settled in consultation with the US authorities but it is to be expected that it will be Washington.

Why cannot we talk in Dublin?

It is just the balance; we may be talking in our own land afterwards.

The first round is in Washington. When?

Within the next few weeks.
