Negotiations with the Channel Island authorities with a view to establishing reciprocal arrangements on social security had reached an advanced stage but were deferred at the request of the Island authorities because of changes they were making in their social security schemes.
The question of the social security of migrant workers falls within the ambit of the regulations of the European Economic Community and the position of Irish nationals who work in Jersey will now have to be considered in the light of these regulations.
