Vol. 258 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free Trade Area Agreement.

21.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the trade matters which he considers need to be re-negotiated with Britain in the context of the Free Trade Area Agreement, having regard to the alterations in the programme of Ireland's accession to the EEC compared with the dates estimated at the time of signing the agreement.

The agreements reached in our negotiations for accession to the EEC took full account of the special trading relations we have with Britain resulting from the Anglo-Irish Free Trade Area Agreement. Renegotiating the AIFTAA does not, therefore, arise.
