asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (a) what support payments have been made to date in the financial year 1971-72 under the carcase beef export scheme; (b) the amount retained to the Irish Exchequer on foot of the differential between the subsidy to Irish factories and that obtainable to Britain and Northern Ireland interests for fat stock factory sales; (c) the amount accruing to the Irish Exchequer on foot of the 25,000 tons of Irish beef on which the British Government pay the subsidy and (d) the average subsidy difference per lb. of slaughtered beef in this country and in Britain and Northern Ireland during the financial year 1971-72 to the latest available date.

The information is:

(a) £651,000 in the first nine months of 1971-72, almost all of which was in respect of exports that took place before the end of the year 1970-71.

(b) £284,000 in respect of exports during the first nine months of 1971-72.

(c) This amount, being based on the average United Kingdom fat cattle guarantee payment for the full year 1971-72, will only be available after the end of the financial year.

(d) 0.216p per lb. dead weight for the first nine months of 1971-72.
