The system of financial support to industrial and reformatory schools in respect of the maintenance costs of children in residential care is by way of the payment of a capitation grant per child. The present rates of capitation grant are as follows:
Industrial Schools: £4.25 per week from the Department of Education plus £4.00 per week from the local authority.
Reformatory Schools: £4.50 per week from the Department of Education plus £4.00 approximately per week from the local authority.
