Vol. 259 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - UN Stamp Issue.

157.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why the United Nations stamp issue of last October was not printed in Ireland.

The design chosen by the United Nations for the stamp in question was not suitable for reproduction by the photogravure process normally used by the Revenue Commissioners for the printing of Irish stamps.

The commissioners accordingly invited tenders from three approved security printing companies including the only one operating in Ireland. No tender for the production of the stamp in Ireland was received.
