Vol. 259 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Hospital Staff Representations.

6.

Mr. O'Donnell

asked the Minister for Health whether he has received representations on behalf of the staff of Saint Joseph's psychiatric hospital, Limerick; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I received on the evening of 17th instant a telegram containing representations on behalf of the psychiatric nursing staff of Saint Joseph's Hospital, Limerick, in regard to delay in negotiating a claim for allowances in respect of weekend, public holiday and night work.

This claim is being negotiated by the Local Government Staff Negotiations Board on behalf of the health boards and I understand that two meetings with the Irish Transport and General Workers Union have already been held this month, the latest only within the last few days. I do not consider, therefore, that any action by me is called for at present.
