I have seen a report published in the Journal of the Irish Medical Association of 19th February, 1972, which I presume is that referred to by the Deputy in his question.
Arising out of a report submitted to me by the Food Advisory Committee, I have had under consideration in conjunction with the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the public health and other implications of the use of therapeutic antibiotics in veterinary practice and animal husbandry. When these and any other necessary consultations have been completed, I shall consider what action should be taken in the public health interest.
