The Pigs and Bacon Commission are not in a position to indicate the bacon factories which will remain open or those which will be closed. The scheme for the rationalisation of the bacon curing industry is a voluntary scheme and a decision as to whether or not a factory will offer to close on the basis of compensation being paid by the commission is a matter for the owners of the factory.
