asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission intend to divide the Cunningham estate, Rushestown Timard, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission intend to divide the Martin estate, Tully village, Timard, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 30 and 31 together.

The Land Commission have, for some time, been endeavouring to accumulate a pool of land in the Tully/Rushestown area in order to facilitate the formulation of plans for the rearrangement and enlargement of fragmented holdings in the locality.

Composite resale proposals are now envisaged for the Cunningham and Martin holdings and three other properties in the locality—giving an aggregate area of 358 acres for division. Pending completion of the necessary inquiries on the ground, it is not possible to forecast when allotment will be effected.

32.

asked the Minister for Lands how long the Mannion estate, Currabene and Castlefrench, Ballinamore Beg, Ballinasloe, County Galway, has been in the hands of the Land Commission; and when it is intended to divide it.

Possession of this 63-acre property passed to the Land Commission in June, 1965. The preparation of resale plans for this and another estate in the locality, aggregating 91 acres, was deferred in the expectation that it would be possible to secure a third holding by the migration of a local farmer—thus enabling a more balanced scheme of land settlement to be implemented. Transfer had been approved but the prospective migrant then changed his mind and that matter has fallen through. It is now proposed that the two estates referred to in the question will be allotted together and the aim is to include the lands in next year's allocation programme.
