Vol. 260 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Constitutional Committee.

14.

asked the Taoiseach the terms of reference of the agreed all-party informal committee on the Constitution.

15.

asked the Taoiseach if he is yet in a position to state the date for the convention of the all-party committee on Northern Ireland; and, if not, when he expects to do so.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take both Questions together on the assumption that Question No. 14 refers to the proposed all-party committee on Northern Ireland.

The terms of reference of the proposed committee have not yet been finalised but it is hoped to convene the first meeting of the committee at an early date.

"Early date" is a bit vague.

I would envisage a week or two, I hope not two.

The Taoiseach will agree that the sooner the three parties get down to this work the better?

As the Deputy is aware, I have been in touch with the Leaders of the other parties and I am anxious to bring this forward as soon as possible.
