asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the serious accident involving a CIE bus on Sunday, 19th March, 1972, at 7.30 p.m. in Finglas village, Dublin, in which at least 50 people were injured, he will hold a public inquiry under section 66 (2) of the Road Traffic Act, 1968, in order to allay widespread anxiety in regard to the safety of public transport; and what report he has received to date in accordance with the provisions of section 66 (1) of the Act.

The accident is being investigated by the gardaí in the course of their normal duties.
I have asked CIE to furnish me with a report on their investigation and when I have received the report, I will consider whether it is appropriate that further investigation should proceed under section 66 of the Road Traffic Act 1968.
