Representations were received by my Department from the Department of Education in 1970 regarding the use of certain Army camps by specific sporting organisations and also inquiring about the possibility of other national sporting organisations obtaining the use of Army camps generally. Applications for such use are considered in the light of military and civil defence requirements. Permission for the use of facilities in various military establishments has, in fact, been granted from time to time to many sporting and recreational bodies on conditions which prescribe, inter alia, the payment of a fee and the effecting of fire and public liability insurances.
