The estimated cost of this scheme on the basis of the tender which was submitted for approval by Waterford County Council is considered excessive. The proposal was discussed recently by officers of my Department and the council. It was agreed that the scheme would be re-examined with a view to achieving the necessary cost economies. The council's further proposals are awaited.
