Vol. 261 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - House Reconstruction Specifications.

73.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the present specifications for the reconstruction of houses were drawn up; and if any changes have been made in them to take account of advances in building methods.

The latest revision of my Department's specification for reconstruction work was made in October, 1970. The specification is modified from time to time to take account of advances in building methods. It is also the Department's practice to consider the acceptance of proposals for the use of building materials and methods other than those laid down in the specification.

With whom does the Minister consult in revising this specification?

An Foras Forbartha advise my Department.

Does he consult the building industry?

Yes, we and An Foras Forbartha have very close contact with the building industry in all these matters.
