I received last year from RTE a document dealing with the broadcasting services and containing recommendations regarding future policy, with a suggestion that I discuss its contents at a meeting with the authority. I do not consider that it would be appropriate that a copy of the document, which I regard as confidential, should be placed in the Dáil Library.
I assume that RTE will submit to the broadcasting review committee for consideration any recommendations it wishes to make.
May I ask the Minister if it is correct, as was alleged in a report in the Irish Independent, that there was a flaming row between him and the authority when he was presented with this report, which apparently was compiled without the knowledge of the Minister?
The Deputy is basing his supplementary question on a newspaper article which was not as accurate as the Deputy would like it to be.
I am merely asking if the newspaper report was accurate?
