Vol. 262 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Hospital.

12.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Health when it is likely that the second hospital at Belmullet. County Mayo, may be made available for the accommodation of patients.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the former fever hospital building, a section of which has been used by the county council for purposes other than hospital accommodation. I understand that agreement has been reached between the council and the health board that the premises will be handed over entirely to the health board before the end of 1972. In the meantime the health board are formulating plans for the renovation of the building and for the carrying out of further works. Their proposals in the matter have not so far been submitted to my Department.
