Vol. 262 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Estates.

47.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the dissatisfaction over the allocations made from two estates (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will state the factors taken into consideration in preparing a scheme for these estates.

The selection of allottees and the determination of the size of allotments are matters that are exclusively reserved to the Land Commissioners. In deciding these matters the commissioners have due regard to all relevant factors such as farming competence, marital status, family circumstances, and so on.

In the case of the estates referred to by the Deputy, the allottees selected were considered the most deserving of the congests residing within policy distance, having regard to their circumstances, the quality of their existing holdings and the suitability of the parcels for their particular needs.
