With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 18 and 19 together, and as the reply contains a large number of figures I propose to circulate the information with the Official Report.

The following is the information requested:

The bed complement and occupancy figures of all fever hospitals for the year ended 31st December, 1970, were:

Cherry Orchard, Dublin

230 beds

75.6% occupancy

Vergemont, Dublin

125 beds

78.1% occupancy

St. Finbar's, Cork

76 beds

71.0% occupancy

Galway

42 beds

107.7% occupancy

Killarney, Co. Kerry

44 beds

69.3% occupancy

Croom, County Limerick

25 beds

68.0% occupancy

Swinford, County Mayo

15 beds

59.3% occupancy

New Ross, County Wexford

66 beds

32.2% occupancy

Roscommon

12 beds

33.2% occupancy

Roscommon Fever Hospital has had no patients since 1st June, 1972.

The closure of any other fever hospital is not at present planned but, in view of the changing demand for fever hospital beds, the position is being kept under constant review.
