Vol. 263 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Children's Act.

105.

asked the Minister for Education when the various statutes relating to children will be codified into a single Children's Act.

This is a task which I feel must follow and should not precede the implementation of many of the other recommendations of the Kennedy Report. Several of these recommendations have either been implemented or are in the course of implementation. Experience of the operation of the structures involved will be of considerable help when it comes to forming a composite Children's Act.

When will all the recommendations of the Kennedy Report be implemented?

It is difficult to say but I can say that we have made very considerable progress in relation to the implementation of recommendations in the report.
