The request made by Drogheda Corporation to have their boundary extended is still under consideration in my Department. It raises important and complex issues which require very detailed and careful consideration before I will be in a position to make a decision. Under the Local Government (Application of Enactments) Order, 1898, any order I made extending the boundary would be provisional only and to take effect would have to be confirmed by the Oireachtas.
