Vol. 264 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Port and Docks Board.

44.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether, in view of the fact that there are no longer any representatives of Dublin Corporation on Dublin Port and Docks Board, any reorganisation of the board is under consideration.

Dublin Corporation is represented on Dublin Port and Docks Board by Mr. John Garvin, Commissioner. Reorganisation of the board is not at present under consideration.

The Press, as the Minister knows, will not be working tomorrow and this is a question of some importance. Is the Minister saying Mr. Garvin is a sufficient substitute for the seven——

——for the five members of Dublin Corporation who used to be members of the board?

This flows from a very important decision taken.

"Flows" is good. It does flow. Would the Minister agree it is a very unsatisfactory situation to have one man officiating in place of five men and would he agree that, because it is such a drastic change, he should now suggest some way of expanding the representative basis?

This matter will be resolved after the next local elections.
