The price index for food as ascertained in connection with the consumer price index inquiries is calculated in respect of mid-February, mid-May, mid-August and mid-November each year. Between mid-May, 1969 and mid-August 1972 the index rose by 32.7 per cent. The increase between mid-August, 1969 and mid-August, 1972 was 31.4 per cent.
