Vol. 265 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Economic and Social Service Measures.

74.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline his comprehensive plans to eliminate poverty and unemployment and his plans for economic and social service measures in this regard.

I would refer the Deputy to the National Coalition Statement of Intent issued prior to the general election.

Surely the question asks the Parliamentary Secretary to outline the Government's comprehensive plans to eliminate poverty and unemployment? The statement of intent is one thing but they have been in office for a long enough period to have some plans. Can the Parliamentary Secretary state those plans?

We have not been in as long as the previous administration.

This is another part of Coalition policy being put on the long finger.

Surely the Deputy would not like me to read out the Third Programme.
