asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposal for a 17-room technical school at Buncrana, County Donegal, plans for which were submitted to his Department some time ago.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Technical School.
The question of the provision of a new technical school in Buncrana is being considered by my Department in the context of the future organisation of post-primary education in the town.
Is the question of a community school one of the matters which must be got out of the way first? Has a decision been taken on this? If not, when will such a decision be taken?
Mr. R. Burke
As the Deputy is probably very well aware, the whole question of rationalisation was suggested by the Fianna Fáil Government subsequent to the decision to recommend a vocational school for Buncrana. This rationalisation envisages a community school for that area. This problem has not been disposed of and pending a decision on this I cannot give the Deputy any indication of whether or not we will go ahead with the building. The only thing I can say is that we will provide mobile accommodation of two classrooms to get over the interim problems and I will speed up the decision as much as I can about the other matter.
