Vol. 265 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Social Welfare Applicant.

6.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a person in County Cork (name supplied) was not paid social welfare benefit due to him from 24th August to 2nd November, 1972.

The person concerned was awarded retirement pension on 23rd October, 1972, with effect from 24th August, 1972. As the award was subject to offset of any amount paid to him after that date by way of unemployment benefit of which he had been in receipt, payment of pension commenced on 2nd November, 1972. It is regretted that the fact that unemployment benefit had ceased to be paid to him after 19th August, 1972, was inadvertently overlooked. Payment of all arrears due has now been made.
