Vol. 265 No. 14

Ceistéanna—Questions Oral Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received a request from Galway County Council to sanction extensions to Stage I of the Galway City East Side and Environs Water Supply Scheme; and if so, when a decision will issue in the matter.

Proposals for extensions to Stage I of the Galway City East Side and Environs Water Supply Scheme have not been received in my Department.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether two families (details supplied) in Loughaderra, Midleton, County Cork will be supplied with water from the group scheme into which they paid six years ago.

Work on the White-gate group water supply scheme, is nearing completion. The Loughaderra extension to serve four houses was not included in the design for the original scheme due to lack of interest locally. Having been assured last year that the four houses on the proposed extension would now participate, the group agreed that as soon as the financial affairs for the main scheme were finalised the half mile extension to Loughaderra would be carried out.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the group scheme in County Cork into which a person (name supplied) paid two years ago will be completed.

The design for this scheme, to serve six houses by way of an extension from the existing public mains, was received on 28th May, 1973. Having been examined by my inspector and found to be in order, the design was forwarded to Cork County Council on 31st May, for formal approval. The group are being advised to seek quotations in the meantime for the necessary materials, etc. to enable firm costings to be determined.

There is some doubt on both technical and financial grounds as to whether it will be possible to serve the person in question from this extension. The position is, however, being further examined in conjuction with the design calculations now available.

47.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the nine cottages at Ballymaclaurence, Ballyhooley, County Cork will get a water supply.

No proposals for a water supply to the cottages at Ballymaclaurence, Ballyhooley have been submitted to my Department.

48.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay by Cork County Council in completing the sewerage scheme at Allihies in West Cork.

This is a matter for the local authority. I understand that it is hoped that certain difficulties experienced in regard to the provision of the septic tank needed for the scheme will be resolved shortly thereby enabling the scheme to be completed.
