Ceistéanna—Questions Oral Answers - Dublin City Road Plan.

50.

(Dublin Central) asked the Minister for Local Government when the final plan for the proposal new road, affecting the part of Dublin city known as the Liberties, will be known.

I assume the question relates to the line of the proposed inner ring road in the Coombe area. This has been the subject of study by consultants employed by Dublin Corporation as part of a general traffic management study of the ring road as a whole and the street network inside the ring. I understand that the consultants expect to present their report in the near future. It will then be a matter for the corporation to consider their proposals in the light of the report.

(Dublin Central): Is the Minister aware that the development of this part of the city has been held up due to this road hazard and would he ensure that the finding will be issued as soon as possible?

The project was approved in principle on 15/10/1969 subject to some reservations, mainly of a technical nature, and after that the Liberties Association met the Minister in 1970 and since then the work has been going on but we expect a report in the near future.
