Vol. 266 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - House Purchase Cost.

1.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he proposes to take any action in relation to the supplementary costs of house purchase which arise from solicitors' and auctioneers' fees.

I understand that the National Prices Commission are arranging to have a study of auctioneers' fees carried out by a consultant, but that, as yet, no similar arrangement has been made by the Commission in relation to solicitors' fees. In accordance with the provisions of the Prices and Charges (Notification of Increases) Order, 1973, auctioneers or solicitors may not increase their fees without giving one month's advance notice to me.
