Vol. 266 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Community School.

35.

asked the Minister for Education if it is intended to locate a community school in the Cabinteely area of County Dublin; and if he will outline all plans in his Department for additional educational facilities by way of school buildings, extra schools and additions to existing schools.

Mr. R. Burke

With the agreement of the Ursuline Sisters it is proposed to develop the girls secondary school in Cabinteely as a community school. Additional accommodation will be provided to cater for an expected future enrolment of 800 pupils.

The existing national school facilities in the Cabinteely area are considered adequate at present. Extra primary school accommodation may be required in the future and I am having this matter examined.

Can the Minister say when this community school will be established?

Mr. R. Burke

The position at the moment is that we are in negotiation with the other interested groups to get the management board complete. As soon as that is completed in the very near future, I am sure we shall be able to go ahead with the opening of the school.
