During the second half of May this year the scientific staff of my Department carried out a survey of the escallop stocks along the western side of the Irish Sea which disclosed that there are good stocks in the area, particularly off Dundalk Bay, Lambay Island and Bray Head.
As was stated in a press release recently issued by my Department, the exploitation of these stocks is now a matter for the fishermen to consider.
