asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the fact that the average price of a new three-bedroomed, semidetached house with garage space in Dublin has trebled during the past ten years and that land prices in Dublin have increased six-fold, he will indicate the nature of his legislative proposals, if any, in the matter.

In so far as the price of grant-aided new houses in schemes of tour or more houses which are provided for sale are concerned, the controls under section 35 of the Housing Act, 1966, ensure that the sale prices of such houses represent reasonable value. I do not propose to seek further legislative powers in that regard at this stage. The question of measures to deal with the problem of land prices is under consideration at present.
