Vol. 267 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Manpower Survey.

27.

asked the Minister for Labour if a manpower survey has been taken during the past two years in Kerry; and, if so, if he will give the relevant figures and areas specified.

Two manpower surveys were carried out in County Kerry during the past two years; one in the Tralee area in May-June, 1972, and the other in the Castleisland area in September-October, 1972. A catchment area of about ten miles around each town was surveyed.

The number of persons who were not in full-time employment in the Tralee area at the time and expressed an interest in obtaining work was 475 males and 192 females. Approximately 165 boys and 136 girls may be expected to enter the labour force from the schools in the area each year.

The figures for the Castleisland area were 497 males and 207 females and from the schools 59 boys and 51 girls.
