Vol. 267 No. 11

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

310.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs his plans for the provision of extra telephone lines for the Swords area of County Dublin.

There is a shortage of equipment in the Swords exchange. Priority orders for exchange lines will continue to be met but I am sorry that other applications must be deferred pending the installation of extra exchange equipment. A 2,000 line extension is on order of which 1,000 are expected to be in service in autumn, 1974. Additional trunk lines to serve Swords exchange will be provided within the next two months.

311.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the provision of an additional public telephone kiosk in Drogheda Street, Balbriggan, County Dublin.

The use being made of the existing kiosk at Drogheda Street, Balbriggan, is not at present sufficient to warrant provision of an extra kiosk there. The position will, however, be kept under review in the light of housing development at Balbriggan.

312.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the plans he has to improve the standard of the telephone services in Balbriggan, County Dublin.

Arrangements have been made to provide extra trunk lines and to carry out certain other works within the next two months to improve the service at Balbriggan.
