In relation to the next item in the Order of Business, might I say I am aware of the fact that the Minister is obliged to leave the country almost immediately and, I may say that, despite our differences——
Private Business. - Business of Dáil.
Leave the country on business.
Yes, on business. I am not saying in public where the Minister will actually be staying though I think he may hear a little more about it later. Perhaps I had better say now in case that is misunderstood. I understand the Minister is going to Washington and staying in Watergate. I wish the Minister bon voyage and success in his efforts.
The next item due to come before us is a matter with which the Minister is concerned. It is also a matter with which I am concerned. The amendments tabled in connection with it were only circulated a short time ago while I was still engaged on the Finance Bill. I would like to suggest that a short adjournment might be advantageous to both the Government and the Opposition—say, 15 or 20 minutes—before we deal with the next item.
They are all give and no take so I do not think the Opposition will have any trouble with them.
I am sorry to intrude on this discussion, but is it suggested that we adjourn simply for personal convenience? Is it to give a breathing space to the spokesmen on each side?
Deputy Colley said he would like to have an opportunity of looking at the amendments.
The Parliamentary Secretary will appreciate that, since I was engaged on the Finance Bill, I could not examine the amendments.
Of course.
Business suspended at 5.25 p.m. and resumed at 5.40 p.m.
