Vol. 268 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Helicopters.

14.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of helicopters that are operational for Army patrol duties; and where they are stationed.

The Air Corps has a total of six helicopters, which are based at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel. Due to servicing requirements, all of them are not, of course, available for operational purposes at all times.

Does the Minister consider that this is an adequate number of helicopters to meet the present needs of the Army for patrol duties?

That is a separate question.

That is a separate question.

Surely we are entitled to ask some supplementary questions. I do not want to get into a row with the Chair but surely I am entitled to ask the Minister a supplementary question.

If the Deputy wishes to know the number of helicopters it is a simple matter to put down a question to that effect.

He did that.

I asked him did he consider them adequate.

We do not consider that the number is adequate and we will add to it.

They will not be British, will they?
