asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider the issue of coupons or vouchers to foreign tourists to enable them to purchase petrol at a reduced price, on lines now being applied in Italy.

The introduction of a concession whereby tourists may purchase petrol at a reduced rate would not be justified.

I am informed that, as from January 1st next, foreign tourists in Italy will no longer be able to purchase petrol at a reduced price.

I understand that the last time we had a war in the Middle East the price of petrol went up by 1s. or 5 new pence. Are we to expect a similar increase now?

Italy is not in the Middle East and the question relates to——

It does relate to Italy but the Italian tourist business——

The Deputy should take his holidays in Italy before 31st December.
