The farm modernisation proposals presented to the EEC Commission accord closely to the terms of Directive No. 159/72. Where discretion is permitted under the terms of the directive we have availed of it to meet our particular requirements.
As our proposals will be the subject of detailed discussions with the Commission during the next few weeks and will also fall to be examined by a permanent committee comprising representatives of all member states, I shall not be in a position to publish details until these discussions have concluded and the opinion of the commission has been received.
