Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Apothecaries Hall.

21.

asked the Minister for Health if the Apothecaries Hall, Dublin, has now ceased to function as an examining body; and, if not, when is it proposed that it should cease so to function.

I understand that the Apothecaries Hall, Dublin, has ceased to conduct examinations since the end of 1971.

Can the Minister state what steps he proposes to take to fill the vacancy on the Medical Registration Council arising from the closure of the Apothecaries Hall? Representatives of the Apothecaries Hall should not be on the council.

It is a different matter.

It is a very important matter.

I appreciate that but it is a separate question.

It is an important matter because this fact has not been made known to the Minister.

I do not want any reference to extraneous matters.

The Apothecaries Hall has ceased to exist but they have a representative on the Medical Registration Council who should not be there.

I have told the Deputy that is a different matter.

Will the Minister look into the matter?
