Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Border Customs Arrangements.

118.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make arrangements to facilitate the more rapid flow of goods through customs posts at the Border.

Mr. Kenny

Customs arrangements in relation to cross-Border merchandise traffic are kept constantly under review. The Revenue Commissioners contemplate the early introduction of certain modifications in existing procedures which, given the co-operation of import/export interests, they would expect to improve the traffic flow significantly. They intend to discuss their proposals with those affected at a meeting arranged in collaboration with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce for 15th November.

I expect it will be all right to repeat the question in a month's time so as to ascertain the outcome of the discussions.
