I do not propose at present to introduce legislation in the areas indicated by the Deputy as I consider existing legislation adequate to safeguard the fisheries interests involved.
Is there to be an international conference in regard to this later in the year?
Yes. One could term it an international conference. The Atlantic Fisheries Commission will come into it and we are in consultation with other countries regularly on the need for conservation. The Deputy can be assured this is being looked after carefully and urgently.
