Vol. 269 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Doctors' Retiring Age.

2.

asked the Minister for Health if he will consider allowing doctors who have contracts under the general medical services scheme to continue working under the scheme after they have reached the age of 70 years provided they are in good health.

Since they may provide services until they have reached the age of 70, doctors who have agreements under the general medical services scheme are already more favourably treated than public servants for whom the normal retirement age is 65 years. I do not propose, therefore, to extend the age limit further.
