I understand that enabling legislation will not be required to effect the transfer of Merrion Square to Dublin Corporation. I have no information of any efforts by an estate company to obstruct future public access to Fitzwilliam Square, but the Deputy will no doubt appreciate that the Square is in private ownership and in view of my appellate functions it would not be appropriate for me to intervene in this matter.
