Vol. 270 No. 4

Private Members' Business: Motion.

I move :

That Government business, as announced today, be not interrupted if under consideration at the time fixed for taking Private Members' Business.

For the reasons stated yesterday, and without elaboration on them today, I still regard the Government's attitude as high-handed and depriving the Private Members of their right in this House. We oppose the motion.

I would also like to add my voice to that and, indeed, say it is a day later and, therefore, a day more urgent that No. 16 be taken.

It is no more high-handed than the Opposition's approach to pairing when Deputies are abroad——

(Interruptions.)
